RTX 5060 coming May 19: Price under 300€ only on paper?

NVIDIA has announced the official release date for the GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card. The base model of the next-generation RTX 5000 series will arrive on May 19 at an MSRP price of $299.

But where’s the catch? You probably won’t be able to buy it for that amount.

GeForce RTX 5060 performance for 1080p gamers

The novelty offers interesting hardware at a relatively affordable price. The RTX 5060 has:

  • 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM
  • 3 840 CUDA cores
  • 5th generation Tensor cores with 614 AI TOPS
  • 4th generation RT cores (up to 58 TFLOPS ray tracing performance)

According to NVIDIA’s internal tests, the card handles:

  • Hogwarts Legacy – 234 fps
  • Cyberpunk 2077 – 148 fps
  • Avowed – 220 fps
  • Marvel Rivals – 330 fps
(all at 1080p resolution, maximum detail and 4x frame rate generation enabled)

This kind of performance for a price under 300€ could be a hit among mainstream gamers.

Availability and price of the GeForce RTX 5060: the reality is harsher

The RTX 5060 will go on sale on May 19 at 12:00pm ET via official retailers. At the same time, laptops with the RTX 5060 graphics card are also launching – their price starts at $1,099.

However, the actual availability remains questionable. Already, retailers are raising prices, often beyond the recommended amount, which they attribute to the new US government tariffs. The elimination of the de minimis exemption means higher taxes for all goods under $800.

So whoever gets their hands on the RTX 5060 at the original price can consider themselves lucky. However, we can forget about it in Slovakia. We have to wait for the first units, and their real price in Slovak e-shops.
