NVIDIA prepares GeForce RTX 5050: A cheap GPU for Gamers?

NVIDIA pripravuje GeForce RTX 5050 - Lacná GPU pre Hráčov

NVIDIA is set to expand its graphics card lineup with the GeForce RTX 5050 and RTX 5060 models, which should appeal to gamers on a lower budget. These cards will be part of the next generation of GeForce 5000 series graphics cards, also called Blackwell. They are expected to offer solid performance in the affordable gaming segment.

RTX 5050: A return to the affordable card segment

The GeForce RTX 5050 is considered the successor to the RTX 3050, with NVIDIA opting not to release a desktop version of the RTX 4050 in the previous generation. This move created room for competing graphics cards such as the Intel Arc B580, which have gained favour with gamers in the under 300 euro price bracket. The RTX 5050 should change this trend and offer a competitive alternative.

The card is expected to feature 8GB of memory, with speculation still rife as to whether it will be GDDR6 or the more modern GDDR7. The GPU used will likely be derived from the GB206 or GB207 chip, suggesting optimization of manufacturing costs. The card’s TDP is expected to be between 135 and 145W, which is slightly less than that of the RTX 5060.

What price can we expect and what does the competition have to say about it?

The RTX 5050 should be priced between $199 and $249, putting the card directly up against Intel’s Arc B580 and potentially AMD’s future RX 9000 series models. Should NVIDIA maintain an aggressive pricing policy, we could see the RTX 5050 in the sub-€250 card segment, making it an attractive option for gamers looking for a quality 1080p gaming card with ray tracing and DLSS support.

Expected performance and capabilities of the RTX GeForce 5050

Although the exact specifications are not yet confirmed, the RTX 5050 will be aimed at 1080p gaming at medium to high settings. NVIDIA could implement Multi Frame Generation technology which would improve the smoothness of games even at lower native performance. DLSS 4 support is also expected, which could significantly improve image quality and overall gameplay for modern titles.

When can we expect to see the RTX 5050 in stores?

According to multiple sources , NVIDIA plans to launch the RTX 5050 in the second half of April 2025. This date coincides with the planned release of the RTX 5060, with the 5060 Ti model expected to arrive even sooner. However, it’s still unclear whether NVIDIA will also introduce an RTX 5050 Ti version, which could offer slightly higher performance at a similar pricing policy.

For gamers looking for an affordable graphics card with modern technology, the RTX 5050 may be one of the most interesting options on the market. If NVIDIA maintains a competitive price and sufficient performance, we can expect this model to find a solid place among the best-selling graphics of 2025.
